The Interns
Overview:
This team building activity is based on the television show, The Apprentice, popular on both sides of the pond. You will be with a team completing a number of challenges and business related activities and each team will have a mentor grading the cohesiveness, performance and overall abilities of each team. Each team will have to elect a “leader” for each specific task and activities are delegated with a number of team building qualities such as communication, presentation, leadership, time management and negotiation skills being tested routinely.
Points are awarded with each positively completed task and points are docked accordingly as well. This Intern activity is perfect for a little tension relieving after a major business event or even as a stand-alone exercise.
Your Intern Missions:
The Negotiator:
If you have a way with words you just might lead your team to victory. You and your team are given a list of odd items to purchase along with a budget to spend and a list of suggested retail prices. Your job is to negotiate those prices down and purchase the items without busting your budget. The team that brings back the most money and the most items is declared winner.
Calendar Branding:
With tools like a Polaroid camera, a blank calendar and a variety of props, your team has to dream up the ultimate custom-made calendar. The goal is creating a design and sales plan for the personalized calendar brand. The team leader has to present the designed calendar in front of a panel of judges and other teams. The team that can “sell” the most calendars wins the calendar round.
The Party Line:
Can your team dazzle a panel of experts with a supreme party everyone will want to attend? You and your team are given a budget to plan the party of the year, the one where everyone wants to see and be seen. You all have to decide on themes, table centerpieces, entertainment and food. Team leader must present the party idea to the panel and convince them your event is the ultimate.
Commercial Advertising:
Your team is presented with the concept of a new service offering and the task is creating an effective 30-second television commercial to promote the service. You all must use the props given to you and recruit actors, write the script and get a director for the commercial. The winning team will be the one that wows the panel of experts with their commercial.
Intern Winners:
Losing teams continue a bit of boardroom battle while the winners kick back and relax with a variety of special treats in a private appointed room. You all will enjoy some lively music with truffles, champagne, and other gourmet goodies including cocktails and canapés.
